Sections of Guiding and Ages

Guiding is divided into sections to meet the needs of the particular age group.  Thus we have:
The Brownie Guides
Brownies are little girls between the ages of 5-10years old. They operate in small group of six called SIXES led by on of them called the SIXER. The maximum number for a Brownie Pack is 36 girls and the pack is led by adult leaders called Brown Owl .
Brownie Motto: Lend a Hand
Brownie Sign
Brownie sign is made by raising 2 fingers (the pointer and the middle fingers) of the right hand to the beret level when on full Brownie Uniform. The 2 fingers remind the Brownie of the 2 fold promise.
The Guides
Guides are girls between 10-15years trying great new things, exploring new experiences, learning new skills by trying them (e.g. through the patrol system they are given opportunities to learn how to become a good leader)

Guide sign is made by raising 3 fingers which is reminder of the 3 fold promise of the Guides.
The Ranger

Rangers are adolescence between the ages of 15-18years old that discover new interests, experience outdoor activities (e.g. hiking, camping etc), investigate careers and opportunities and use their new skills.
There are three types of Rangers, they are air, sea and land Rangers.
Cadet Guides
These are girls between 18 -20 years old that expose to leadership skills by working as leaders of any of the three younger branches of guiding. Cadets build a network of fun, support and participate in global development projects.
ADULT LEADERS
These are the Guiders to the girls; they are responsible for planning and running of the other categories of guiding. They enable the girl child develop their potential through life and leadership skills training, character moulding etc.
