OUR HISTORY |

In September 1919, the first Company was founded in Lagos – Nigeria at Wesleyan Girls’ High School now Methodist Girls’ High School. Other Companies in Kaduna and Enugu were established. Soon Guiding spread to other parts of the Country. |

In 1927 the first Brownie Pack was registered as 1st Calabar Pack while the 1st Leper Colony Pack was registered in 1929. This is a practical example of the many ways by which Guiding brings joy and happiness to our in fortunate sisters. |

Side by side with the growth of the movement came the need for more Guiders and as the older girls were now showing interest Cadet Companies were started with the special promise – To train for service in the Guide Movement. In 1934 the first Ranger Unit was opened at St. Agnes College, Lagos. |

|
For years the Association was led by expatriates. Lady Oyinkan Abayomi was the first Nigerian to be promoted to Captain and was also the first Chief Commissioner. |

The presence of the Association is now felt in almost all the 36 States of the Federation and the Capital Territory – Abuja. There are over a hundred Thousand members made up of girls, young women and adult leaders. |
